Is it "music monopoly" as Springsteen said? Are they playing us?
A megamerger of Ticketmaster and Live Nation "would produce greater efficiencies in the music business, which theoretically would benefit ticket buyers and artists" argues a chief executive of Ticketmaster in a recent TIME article. Independent concert promoters and fans fear that the merger would surely shut out competition and lead to higher ticket prices.
Of course, the future of this segment of the music industry lies within Obama's justice department. In the meantime, it might be timely for a wider revival of PJ's Ticketbastard stance. Maybe? Anybody?
